Align Yoga - Vinyasa Yoga in Amsterdam
Welcome to Align Yoga. I'm Jacqueline, a Dutch native living in Amsterdam. My journey into yoga began during a demanding (yet exciting) career at Nike, where tennis served as my primary outlet for physical activity. However, it was during a period of imbalance and burnout that I discovered the profound impact of yoga. Giving myself permission to slow down, tune in, and listen to my body's needs, I found yoga to be more than just a physical practice—it became a sanctuary for kindness and compassion.
After nearly a decade in digital brand marketing, my last role at Nike was as the Holistic Fitness Marketing Manager. Throughout my tenure, I had the privilege of working on meaningful projects like 'Nike Mind Sets' and building a Breath Work program on the Training app. My focus on holistic fitness and well-being led me to explore more about yoga, which ultimately led me to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher training in Bali in 2023 with YogaUnion (RYS 200, Yoga Alliance). This course was a pivotal moment, shifting my perception of yoga from mere exercise to a way of life. While I may be relatively new to teaching, I am not new to yoga and working within the yoga and holistic well-being space. My experiences at Nike, particularly in the activity apps team where we worked closely with global coaches and trainers, have given me valuable insights into developing yoga flows and integrating mindfulness practices into fitness routines. Now, armed with my knowledge of yoga philosophy, I feel that everything has come together, and I can bring a wealth of experience to my students when I teach on the mat.
Align Yoga emerged from a desire to share this journey with others. The name "Align" reflects the essence of yoga—to align our minds and bodies, to find balance and harmony within ourselves. Through Align Yoga, I aim to guide students in discovering the calm within their minds, moving with intention and breath, while challenging their bodies and exploring the depths of their practice. I have a deep passion for teaching students to cultivate proper posture and alignment, emphasizing that yoga is not about achieving a particular shape but rather about tuning inwards and focusing on the nuances of each posture.
I am currently a fixed teacher at Renessence on Mondays, and you can find me on Fridays at SportCity Cornelis Schuyt, I'm eager to share my passion for yoga wherever I can. I'm committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. If you're interested in joining me for a class, whether in the park or at a rented studio, please reach out—I'd love to connect. You can read more about my approach and upcoming classes on the ‘classes’ page.
